Tooth Extractions

Sometimes tooth extractions are necessary, where the tooth is irreparably damaged or due to periodontal disease. A broken tooth presents a number of problems for a patient, as food gets stuck in the hole and aids bacteria build up. When the gum or bone is exposed, the situation becomes even more problematic and can result in weakening of the gum and bone. Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth are the last team to come through, often causing issues with the teeth coming through misaligned or not at all. When this happens, you will experience discomfort or pain, and the wisdom tooth may even cause damage to the back teeth that are already there. Typically, wisdom teeth will begin to come through in teenage years or early twenties. Although some people don't have any issues until they are in their thirties.

Even if the wisdom tooth is not presenting, Dr. Walford can carry out a thorough exam using X ray equipment to determine the position of the tooth. Extraction is carried out in-office, to ensure that you experience minimal disruption to your life. During routine exams, Dr. Walford will also check positioning of wisdom teeth – especially in teens and young adults – as extraction is much easier when the bone is not as dense and the tooth has not fully developed.
